The Power of Primitives project is an assignment from my DDN-115 class for digital design. The prompt for this assignment was to create a "complex" creature with a space or sea theme through the use of the pen tool, primitive shapes, and the Pathfinder Panel.

I knew that I wanted to go with the space theme. I then began to design some simple characters that leaned into the primitive shapes. After a few minutes of doodling, I designed Grimble the Space Wizard.

I then went into Adobe Illustrator to begin creating an illustration of Grimble. The primary shapes used were ellipses to form his head and hat brim, while triangles were used to make his body and the point of his hat.
